Program Council
The Program Council handles much of the day-to-day operational planning and decision making at First Unitarian. The Council is comprised of representatives from all the diverse committees, staff, task forces, and programs of the congregation. Monthly meetings provide a clearinghouse for communication and a forum for determining short-term priorities for the resources, schedule, and facilities of FUSD. Representatives share information, manage projects, foster the development of good ideas, encourage volunteerism, and cultivate leadership.
The main goals of Program Council include:
- Promote communication among committees, staff, and the congregation
- Share monthly status reports from committees and programs
- Provide a sounding board for ideas and actions of the committees and programs
- Coordinate events and projects
- Allocate tasks among committees and programs when necessary
- Update the church calendar
- Provide a forum for coordination of committee budget requests that do not involve staff salary
- Facilitate leadership training and development
The Program Council is coordinated by two co-chairs elected by the congregation (on rotating years) for two-year terms.
